Mimms Honda Day has come a long way since its early days as a local meet up in a service station and this year’s event is being held at the fantastic Rockingham Speedway on April 23rd.
Even now that it is filling such a large venue as this, there is still that same spark that keeps this event dear to the community’s heart.
It all began in 2009 when Hondas of all ages and styles would fill South Mimms service station car park on the M25, but by 2013 this venue just couldn’t contain the sheer number of attendees, despite overflowing into the coach and lorry areas.
The car meet soon evolved into ‘Mimms Honda Day’ and is now the UK’s largest premier Honda performance event.
An important date on the show calendar for anyone with a passion for the brand, Mimms is a real hit especially since this country’s Japanese car scene is growing ever more popular in recent years.
Honda owners from all over the world see Mimms as a great opportunity to showcase their best work and fans can lose themselves for hours just admiring row upon row of immaculate modern and classic models.
The standards and level of quality at this event are always exceedingly high, with this year’s show utilising the full Speedway track layout to provide a better track and spectator experience on the day.
There will be prizes awarded for the best cars over in the Show ’n’ Shine area and plenty of trade stands offering tempting treats for your vehicle.
Track sessions will be run regularly throughout the day at the International Super Sportcar Circuit (BTCC Circuit) and the pit garage balcony gives you a brilliant 360-degree view of the track; if miniatures are more your thing then you can head to the Stockport RC drifters circuit for some small-scale race action.
Tickets are available at the gate and the show runs from 9am to 5pm, so be sure to bring your camera and leave yourself plenty of time to wander around looking at all of the cars and strike up a conversation with fellow enthusiasts while you’re there.
