Once again Billing Aquadrome in Northampton was host to the American Automobile Club International Spring Open Nationals from the 16th to the 18th of August and Motor-Vision’s photographer Darren Skidmore was there to capture the action.

Although this holiday park is nowhere near the seaside, Billing Aquadrome is host to three events a year for this ever growing group of American car enthusiasts and this year it combined the event to coincide with the Northampton Balloon Festival, really providing that holiday atmosphere.

Before the weekend kicked off, Thursday was not looking too good weather wise, however, it didn’t stop plenty of fantastic looking American classic and muscle cars turning up at the gates, keen to fit a full weekend of entertainment! Various competitions, numerous trade stands and live bands helped to provide a great atmosphere which carried on into the evenings.

Fortunately the weather improved Friday afternoon and with an amazing array of gleaming American cars, combined with the glorious spectacle of hot air balloons taking flight both morning and evening, the show exceeded expectations.

The weekend was a tremendous success and by early Sunday afternoon there were a lot of happy American car owners heading back to their homes with good memories and a few clutching well-earned trophies.
