Toyota has announced it will be showcasing ten custom models at this year's Tokyo Auto Salon event that will be taking place this month.

The vehicle manufacturer is set to exhibit four GT86 concepts from Cb, Modellista, TRD and TOM'S, alongside its unique G Sports concepts developed from the Aqua hybrid hatchback and Mark X saloon.

Other models that will be on display will be two racing concepts from RMN based on the Yaris and GT86. Gazoo Racing will also unveil two models – its LFA and GT86 – which will both be competing in this year's Nurburgring 24 Hours race.

The models will form part of the team's 2013 entry, marking the seventh consecutive year in which the team has taken part.

It is hoped that showcasing each of the models will help to provide inspiration for the myriad customisation fans that will be in attendance at this year's event, with Toyota keen to highlight the fact that when it comes to customising its models, the sky is literally the limit.

Tokyo Auto Salon opened today (January 11th) and will be running until the 13th. It is being held at the Makuhari Messe International Exhibition Hall in Tokyo and entry for visitors is set to cost 3,000 yen (£20.89). Opening times are from 09:00 to 18:00 local time each day.

Last year's Motorcycle Live event in Birmingham also featured a number of interesting custom vehicles, with the most popular of which being Abarth's 595 Competizione and its 'Scorpione' models.

Ivan Gibson, head of Abarth UK, commented at the time: "It's not often that a car manufacturer exhibits at a bike show, but there is so much motorcycle history and background in Abarth that it actually feels like a perfect fit."
