These “clunky-but-cute” renditions of classic cars are now purchasable NFTs!

Artwork truly entered the digital era in a big way last year with the sudden boom surrounding NFTs.

Standing for non-fungible tokens, NFTs offer a way for people to buy certified ownership of a digital asset, such as an image, just like you would buy a painting or other work of art in real life. People may be able to have copies of their own, but the person that bought the original NFT will be the true owner.

Two artists have collaborated to bring us some truly gorgeous designs in the form of NFT artwork that is available for auction. Two charities will benefit from the sale of these artworks and they are Crisis and Viva con Agua, helping homeless people in the UK and those without access to clean drinking water around the world respectively.

As for the artworks themselves, they have been created by Mike Turner, a Derby-based professional vehicle designer of over 25 years who also creates low-poly car art in his spare time. Working alongside Mike, a man called Jens Mueller who’s a Commercial Designer for state-of-the-art virtual stage settings makes up the second half of this collaborative effort.

The art includes low-poly depictions of iconic classic cars such as the Audi Quattro, Lamborghini Countach and Ford GT. These low-poly 3D models were created by Mike who specialises in computer-aided design and offers a minimalistic and retro take on these highly-renowned vehicles. Mike cites old video games as his inspiration, where the game’s assets had to have low poly counts in order to run on the technology at the time which had limited processing power.

These retro-style cars sit upon a background that blends real-life photography with more abstract representations. On one side, a realistic image of a road or race circuit can be seen which is then transitioned into a pixelated mosaic of colours as it reaches the other side of the image’s border.

These NFT images are available to purchase in 11k resolution, meaning that they’re certainly large enough to be printed out in a large format without losing the image quality. Perfect for digital art collectors that also want to hang what they have bought in real life.

This is Mike’s third NFT collection, with the first selling very quickly so we wouldn’t expect these to be available for too long. Currently placed at a reserve price of 1.17 BNB which converts to around £350, we hope that these help plenty of money for the aforementioned charities!

Let us know if you would buy these NFTs, in the comments!
