The final auction of the year has been carried out Brooklands, with Historics celebrating one of its best performances of 2012 in the process.

Notable sales that were achieved at the event – which took place last weekend – included a 1989 911 Speedster which achieved £59,600 and a 1960 356B T5 Super Cabriolet that sold for £45,920.

In total, 233 classic vehicles – 64 per cent of those on the books – were sold at this last auction of the year for Historics, achieving sales in excess of  £1.6 million – £5.5 million for 2012 overall.

Historics' auction director Edward Bridger-Stille commented after the event: "Notwithstanding our first auction, where we sold a Blower Bentley for a year-high price, this has been our most successful sale to date."

He added that thanks must go to the whole team at Historics for making the series of auctions such a runaway success. In addition, the outstanding level of sales that have been achieved in the last 12 months means the future for the event looks more than secure for 2013 and beyond.

Back in September, the Historics auction saw a vintage display of classic vehicles, but there was one lot which simply stood out from the crowd.

A mint condition Aston Martin DB5 went under the hammer and saw the seller walk away with a cool £336,000. It was up against some stiff competition on the day though, with a host of impressive models also being sold, including a 1990 AC Cobra Mk IV and 1991 Bentley Continental convertible.

Mr Bridger-Stille commented at the time: "In an increasingly congested auction calendar, Historics is firmly established and as ever a debt of gratitude goes to our customers who continue to share our belief."

Looking to the future, Historics has now set dates for its auctions in 2013, with events to take place on March 9th, June 1st, August 31st and November 23rd.
