Jd Classics’ legendary ex-Fangio C-Type took its third consecutive victory at the Monaco Historique over the past weekend, making it one of the most consistently successful racing cars of its kind in this competition.

Impressively, the ex-Fangio’s latest win makes this its 24th award in 27 race, meaning that it’s a force to be reckoned with when it comes to historic racing.

It was Chris Ward who took the wheel for qualifying in the Jaguar C-Type, in what was actually his first time racing at the Monaco Historique.

This didn’t put him off however, as he put in an incredible lap that saw him take pole position – two seconds ahead of his closest competitor.

Despite the fact that things looked good for Ward, this wasn’t the case the whole way through, as the C-Type was involved in a minor collision with a Ferrari. This happened when Ward tried to overtake the latter model.

However, the damage only affected the aesthetics of the car and it was ready for the race on Saturday 14th.

Speaking on the performance Derek Hood, JD Classics managing director, said: “The JD Classics Competition Department keeps getting better and better – to have won three Monaco Historique events in a row is an incredible achievement for us.”

He added that the manufacturer’s ex-Fangio C-Type is becoming legendary in its style of racing, but that it’s not the only one.

Mr Hood was keen to stress that the team is working on a “huge range of historic competition cars through the year”, all of which compete at the highest possible level.

Ward’s performance has certainly done everything to add to this car’s level of celebrity, as he managed to grab a ten second lead over his nearest competition at times.

Overall, he stormed over the finish line a huge eight seconds before anyone else did, making his debut one for the Monaco Historique history books.
