Fans of classic cars and modern vehicles that are likely to achieve this status in years to come may be interested in the latest announcement by the organisers of the upcoming Race Retro event that a host of such vehicles are to go under the hammer at this year's festivities.

So far, 72 vehicles have already been named as lots at the Race Retro and Classic Car Sale hosted by Silverstone Auctions.

Nick Whale, managing director of Silverstone Auctions, said: "Motorsport and classic car fans are in for a real treat as included in the main sale are many championship-winning competition cars from both the race track and rally stages.

"The collection also includes many classic road cars as well as some future modern classics."

Set to be one of the highlights of the motorsport showcase, the auction will see a 1958 Tojeiro Jaguar for sale, as well as a 1976 Porsche 934 'Jagermeister' race car.

These are but two of the classic race vehicles that will be on display and up for sale, with a rare 1960 Aston Martin DB4 Series II Saloon – with an estimated sale price of between £165,000 and £185,000 – also set to be a highlight for visitors.

Furthermore, 15 cars are to be sold on the day without reserve, meaning a number of lucky bidders could walk away with a bargain.

Another highlight which classic car fans might like to check out when attending the Race Retro event could be the exhibition of classic vehicles being delivered by Porsche.

The luxury car manufacturer has announced it plans to showcase some of its most important and stunning models from motorsport history, including its Rothmans Group C Porsche 956 chassis and its 1984 Group B Porsche 911 SCRS – with both taking part in the live rally event.

Race Retro will be taking place at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire from February 24th and 26th.
