What do superheroes drive? Well, according to the upcoming Justice League movie, it’s Mercedes-Benz.

Presumably, Bruce Wayne would be reluctant to give up the keys to the Batmobile, but regardless, Mercedes-Benz vehicles are expected to get their fair share of screen time during the film, which is rumoured to have a running time of almost three hours.

Models from the German car maker will join ‘the League’ alongside Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash as they race to save the planet from an alien assault of catastrophic proportions.

That means you can expect to catch more than a glimpse of the new E-Class Cabriolet, the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo – with a special interior designed especially for this film – and the G-Class 4×42.

Six exclusive digital comic stories will also begin to appear on Mercedes-Benz’ Instagram channels from October 20th.

‘Natural fit’

Dr Jens Thiemer, vice president of marketing at Mercedes-Benz Cars, believes the E-Class Cabriolet is “a natural fit for Wonder Woman”.

Mercedes Justice League

“And who other than Bruce Wayne, aka Batman, would be more inclined to drive a car like the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo?” he added.

Dr Thiemer went on to claim that Justice League was the perfect partner to highlight the brand’s current vehicles.

Where you’ll see Mercs in the film

If you want to keep an eye out for Mercedes models during the film, Diana Prince (Wonder Woman – played by Gal Gadot once more) drives the drop-top E-Class during a mission to speak with Victor Stone (aka Cyborg – played by Ray Fisher, who reprises the role from 2016’s Batman vs Superman flick).

You’ll also spot the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo as Bruce Wayne drops in on Barry Allen (aka The Flash) to recruit him into the League.

This car was fitted with a virtual dashboard section for production purposes and the whole vehicle had to be enlarged to 110 per cent to facilitate filming and accommodate seating the film’s 6ft 2in-tall Bruce Wayne while maintaining its sleek-looking low roofline.

Art inspiring real-life

Gordon Wagener, chief design officer at Daimler AG, revealed that the realm of fantasy films and comic books regularly influence the world of film.

“As a designer, you have to create fantasy, so we often get inspired by the film industry,” he said.

“I am excited that this time, the film industry was inspired by us and our Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo became the car for a super hero.

“Extreme proportions, sensual contours and intelligently implemented high tech blend to form a breathtaking body and the perfect car for Bruce Wayne.”

Justice League has been directed by Zack Snyder, who previously helmed superhero epics such as 300, Watchmen and Man of Steel, and the film hits cinemas throughout the UK on November 17th.
