Billy Monger – the young British racing driver involved in the well-publicised crash back in April, has been back on the track this week with the help and support of Team BRIT.

Billy has received overwhelming support from family, friends, members of the public and motorsport idols, helping him to get back into motorsport and continue with his motorsport career – all just 11 weeks after his accident.

Team BRIT helps disabled drivers and injured serving and ex members of the armed forces to compete in motorsport. The team competes in some of the toughest endurance races across Europe.

Billy took to the track in Team BRIT’s VW Beetle Fun Cup Car, which has steering wheel mounted hand controls. Billy commented, “Team BRIT has got two steering wheels for me to try out today. I’ve decided which one I prefer, now it’s just about perfecting the technique so that when I come back, I’m up the front winning races.”

Team BRIT unveiled their Fun Cup Car back in February  https://smart-motoring.com/latest-news/motorsport/team-brit-unveils-new-car/ aiming to reach the 25 Hour Spa race this month (July!). Now, having successfully achieved this aim you can keep an eye on our social media channels and Motor-Vision as we stay up-to-date with the team’s progress.

Team BRIT warmly welcomed Billy into the team and have supported him throughout his first venue back on track. As Billy said after the day, “It’s been really good just to get back behind the wheel. Massive thanks to Team BRIT for sorting out today, I can’t wait to be back again.”

Grove & Dean Motorsport Insurance has sponsored and worked closely with Team BRIT for several years and cherish the relationship with this remarkable organisation.

Although Billy has said he is “Not 100% committed to anything yet” he is already a sporting inspiration and Grove & Dean Motorsport Insurance is delighted to have played a part in getting him back on track.

We wish Billy all the best in his recovery and continuing journey up the motorsport ladder.
