The cream of the vehicle world headed down to Birmingham at the weekend (January 9-12th) to make their presence known at the Autosport International show 2014.

Autosport 2014 Feature

From the best in concept developments, to the most exciting cars currently available, the National Exhibition Centre was full of motoring marvels to make petrolheads purr.

Here is just a selection of the hottest vehicles on show at the annual pre-season event:

Ford Radical

Making its world debut at the exhibition was the latest in Radical’s sportscar design – the RXC Turbo. However, the car has had a big help through the power of Ford’s latest engine technology.

It’s an innovative and ambitious design, and features a 3.5-litre V6 Ford EcoBoost engine. Despite providing more energy efficiency than other Ford engines, it is also extremely powerful.

The technology helps the RXC Turbo go from 0-60mph in just 2.6 seconds, with a top speed of a remarkable 185mph.

Chief of Radical Paul Abbott said the car is a “world beater”, and the engine will be able to last for as much as 200,000 miles.

 Ferrari F12

F12berlinetta

The Ferrari F12 Berlinetta will also be showing off in Birmingham, with the car demonstrating its impressive design and fearsome engine.

The 6.3-litre V12 is capable of 731bhp and can accelerated up to 62mph from standing in three seconds flat.

It takes its cues from front-engined cars of the 1960s, but is sure to be a completely different beast when taken out on the road.

Keating Bolt

The Keating Bolt made headlines in 2013, as designers claimed it would be the latest in record-breaking vehicle design.

While not the prettiest model in the bunch, the Bolt is expected to deliver quite the punch, with designers saying it can achieve a staggering top speed of 340mph.

It has yet to go through full testing – probably because it’s difficult to find a driver willing to push it to such shattering speeds!

However, it was still one of the most impressive models on display, at least because of its remarkable claims.

 Lotus Elise S Cup R

The Elise S Cup R

The new track-only Elise S Cup R made its world debut in Birmingham at the weekend. Exhibited in eye-catching yellow, the car contains the same supercharged 1.8-litre engine that can be found in the standard Elise S road model.

However, innovations to the design – including a new front splitter, rear diffuser and new rear wing to improve aerodynamics – has seen the car tackle a 2.2-mile lap some four seconds faster than the road version.

 Jaguar XKRS GT

Jaguar XKRS GT

The model is helping to mark the brand’s celebration of 25 years of the R range, and it is certainly doing so with a bang.

The car features a 5.0-litre V8 engine, twinned to a six-speed automatic gearbox, capable of achieving 542bhp. This equates to a 0-60mph speed of 3.9 seconds and a limited peak of 186mph.

It has received a mean front grille design, making the Jaguar look just that little bit more fierce.
