Fiat has announced the European launch of its new City Cross model for its 500L range; a car for “thrilling urban adventures”.

Some of the most exciting vehicles in the automotive industry at the moment are smaller SUVs and crossover cars, and Fiat has now thrown its hat in the ring with the European launch of the 500L City Cross.

This innovative new model is designed specifically for city life, with the manufacturer describing it as “the perfect car for escaping everyday routine and taking on thrilling urban adventures”.

Engine choices

The 500L City Cross comes with a range of different engine choices. Customers can choose from 1.4 16V 95 HP, the 0.9 TwinAir 105 HP and the 1.4 16V TwinJet 120 HP if they want a petrol engine, or they can opt for bi-fuel petrol and LPG with the 1.4 TJet 120 HP.

Alternatively, the 1.6 16V MultiJet 120 HP and the 1.3 16V MultiJet 95 HP diesel engines are also available.

The vehicle has been designed to look sporty and exciting, while still clearly remaining a crossover. The exterior features a special bumper with skid plate and a 25mm raised ride, alongside 17-inch alloy rims, mirror caps and a contrasting roof.

It is available in nine different colours, but Fiat recommends the new Sicilia Orange paintwork with a black roof, claiming it enhances the crossover car’s look “to the fullest”.

Plenty of equipment

Of course, the car is more than just a looker. The 500L City Cross also comes with plenty of equipment for the modern driver. In addition to industry standards like ABS, ESP, six airbags, a manual climate control system and cruise control, it also offers some more hi-tech features.

The crossover comes with a 3.5-inch TFT colour display, complete with touchscreen and voice control. This is all tied together with Fiat’s Uconnect HD LIVE with Bluetooth system.

The Italian industry giant already has an SUV in the form of the the 500X, but it is clear that the 500L City Cross offers something much more unique. The car is only available in continental Europe at the moment, however, so British drivers will have to wait for this exciting crossover.
