Richard Hammond is selling eight fantastic cars and motorcycles in order to fund his historic car restoration business.

The hamster himself is looking to dive deep into the world of classic cars with his new restoration business named The Smallest Cog, which will be the centre of a new discovery+ UK series that follows him and all the interesting vehicles that he’ll likely be restoring.

In order to kickstart this dream to life, it looks like Hammond will actually have to depart with a great number of his personal classic vehicles in order to fund the business. How ironic! And Richard appears to be very aware of this irony.

“The irony of me supporting my new classic car restoration business by selling some of my own classic car collection is not wasted on me” stated Hammond. He went on to add “It is with a very heavy heart that they go, as they have a great deal of personal sentimental value, but they will be funding the future development of the business and giving life back to countless other classic vehicles.”

Richard Hammond’s Workshop (a working title) is scheduled to to air on discovery+ UK later this year, with no exact date or timeframe confirmed as of yet. Described as an original docuseries, we imagine it could be similar to BBC One’s ever-popular ‘The Repair Shop’ and in a similar fashion, dive deep into historic vehicles’ pasts, the story behind their current owners and of course, how Hammond will go about artfully restoring it.
