The McLaren 570GT is a rather spectacular automobile as it is, but a handful of limited-run bespoke models are about to be produced in a special exterior colour.
Commissioned by McLaren Special Operations as an MSO Collection, just six 570GTs will be finished in the historic ‘XP Green’ exterior paint.
A different colour might not seem like a huge selling point for a limited edition car, but this is the same colour as the famous F1 XP GT ‘Longtail’ homologation model built in 1997, so it bears some significance.
Additionally, the Saddle Tan leather interior features green inserts in the seats and green contrast stitching, as well as a dedication plaque mounted on the centre tunnel beneath the infotainment screen identifying each car as one of six in the collection.
Saddle Tan aero pin-striping adorns the car’s exterior, edging the front aero blades, side skirts and rear diffuser, while each door carries a stripe of the same colour that runs to the rear from a subtle silver-grey union flag emblem.
MSO Black exterior components replace the front splitter, door inserts, side air intakes, side skirts and rear bumper, diffuser and spoiler, all of which would usually be finished in Dark Palladium or body colour.
“Any McLaren is a very special vehicle, but we are also seeing an increasing number of buyers expressing a desire to personalise their cars with additional features and options as well as colour and trim choices outside of the core specification offered,” said a McLaren spokesperson.
Priced at £188,567, the XP Green 570GT cars have already found buyers in the UK, Germany and the Netherlands. But don’t feel too downhearted if you’ve missed out because McLaren Special Operations will continue to create limited-volume collections in the future.
