We are delighted to announce this year's winners of the Motor-Vision Awards, Dan & Dave, Chatteris to Tokyo!
Dan and Dave both work for a company called Fensport, who specialise in performance Toyotas and their idea is to drive from their hometown Chatteris, Cambridgeshire, to Tokyo in a Toyota Yaris. Along the way, they will be raising as much money as possible for Children In Need.
The idea of driving from the UK to Tokyo has been a dream of theirs for a number of years, but such a trip without financial backing is extremely difficult. So when they heard of the Motor-Vision Awards, it was an opportunity neither of them could resist.
Their trip will consist of 12,500 miles, travelling through 18 countries and take up to 7 weeks to complete.
As Japanese car fanatics, Tokyo was always the obvious choice. Home to Toyota itself, as well as some of the world's best tuners, manufacturers, circuits, events and drivers, Tokyo really is the place to be for all JDM fans.
They visited Tokyo back in 2015, and fell in love with the place and have been planning to return ever since. However, the idea of driving to Tokyo has always been their plan, even before their initial trip.
Along the way they will be visiting as many tuning garages, car shows and race tracks as possible, as ultimately it is a motoring competition.
First of all, their work and passion is based on Toyotas so their brand of choice was always going to be a Toyota. The guys were after something small, cheap, easily repairable and something that'll be a challenge. So they decided that the car that ticks all those boxes, was indeed a 1 litre Yaris.
Dave is the main mechanic so he will be the one responsible for the many repairs they will inevitably face along the way.

Performance Direct's previous Non Standard Awards saw a team of three journalists from Practical Classics magazine drive across the USA. On a budget…
For just $800, they purchased a 1978 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz – bought on eBay – and drove 2500 miles from Columbus, Ohio to Santa Barbara, California.
So how do you do the road trip of a lifetime for little more than £500?
The answer; by entering the Motor-Vision Awards!
Check out some of the boys footage from their Coast to Coast trip below:
Performance Direct insurance launched their second wave of the previous Non-Standard Motoring Awards with a match-funding initiative for the Allard Chryler Action Group.
The scheme aimed to raise £5,000 towards the restoration of Europe's first dragster, the Allard Chrysler.
Now owned by the National Motor Museum Trust at Beaulieu.
Mini adventurer, Duncan Mortimer, set off across the USA on the first leg of his 'round the world road trip.
The drive, in aid of Cancer Research and the 'Help for Heroes' charity, celebrated the 50th anniversary of the launch of the original Mini by taking it to over 20 countries covering over 36,000 miles.
It was all made possible after Duncan received a Non Standard Award from insurer Performance Direct.
Sitting in his 1978 Austin Mini Clubman 1275 GT en route through Florida, 20 days into his zigzagging route across the States, Duncan explains:
"Although I have many people to thank for getting me on the road, it was the Non Standard Awards that really got me started. The money from Performance Direct got the car back on the road so I could publicise the trip and get interest from other supporters. The Non Standard Awards are a fantastic idea and I'm honoured to be chosen as their first winner."
This was the third time Duncan Mortimer has circumnavigated the globe in this car but the Mini's 50th anniversary and the popularity of the new Mini have meant that the trip has received a great deal of attention around the world, including invitations for visits to over 40 Mini Clubs from Australia to Japan, Eastern Europe and China.
