For the owner of the £250,000 Ferrari 458 Spider, it was sure to be a moment of horror, but onlookers and internet viewers have been rather enjoying the video of a BMW police car smashing into the rear end of the supercar.

Don’t worry though, no one was harmed in the collision. The unmissable yellow speed machine was harmlessly reversing into a parking space in London, while the police car attempted a cheeky three-point turn nearby.

Needless to say, it didn’t work out too well.

The individuals filming the damage to the back-right corner of the iconic model were in fits of laughter as they examined the extent of the collision.

The video was uploaded to YouTube by Supercars of London, and to-date has been viewed over 140,000 times.

A spokesperson from the Met Police issued a statement, reading: “We can confirm a police car was in collision with a Ferrari. No one was injured during the collision and no arrests were made.”

Not only was the situation rather farcical in the sense that it was the BMW police car – a valuable model in itself – that caused the accident, it was also due to the fact it occurred at such a low speed for two high-performance vehicles!

The Ferrari can hit speeds of up 199mph and is able to go from 0-62mph in just 3.4 seconds. That’s thanks to a V8 direct injection engine that can produce 419kW at 9,000rpm, in addition to 540Nm of torque at 6,000rpm.

When the police car reversed away from the Ferrari, the rear bumper was noticeably ripped and just about hanging on, while the BMW looked relatively unscathed apart from a few cuts and scratches.
